Simon Shenton at work in the Met Lab in 1984 cutting a glass / carbon fibre reinforced polypropylene test sample (bonded to aluminium). This was used for a ‘battle damaged aircraft repair’ project. Samples were cut into 25mm strips and subsequently tested for the bond strength between the repair patch (glass / carbon fibre reinforced polypropylene) and the aircraft skin (aluminium).
